Family Pedigree Assessments

Family pedigree is used by genetic counseling to trace inheritance patterns throughout generations. It can be employed to predict the risk that a certain disease will be inherited by future offspring. A family pedigree also helps to establish the need for laboratory tests to identify carriers.

The following five assessments present you four different family pedigrees. You will be asked to use the interrelationships between the affected family members to determine the type of inheritance that is followed by the traits in the example pedigrees.
